Playa Vista Market Report: Projections for Next Year’s Market are Sunny and a New Open House!

Last week, the California Association of Realtors® (C.A.R.) released its “2018 California Housing Market Forecast.” The report is encouraging, overall, with a general consensus that the current economic growth will further boost the California housing market slightly. However, the limiting factor will continue to be a shortage of available homes for sale, especially at the entry and affordability levels. Therefore, any gains will be modest. Additionally, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage interest rate will increase slightly to 4.3 percent in 2018, up from 4.0 percent in 2017 and 3.6 percent in 2016, but promises to stay minimal by historical standards.
